Houston Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. C. Bob Basu

Dr. C. Bob Basu, MD, MPH, FACS is a board certified plastic surgeon and a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is the co-founder and director of the Institute of Advanced Breast Reconstruction. Early in his career, Dr. Basu quickly developed a strong reputation for his experience and skills in reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery and brought state-of-the-art reconstructive techniques to the suburban communities of Houston.

Dr. Basu, with co-surgeon Dr. Sugene Kim, was the first to perform the DIEP flap procedure in The Woodlands and North Houston. Dr. Basu has evolved his private practice to include outstanding plastic surgeons with training from our nation’s top institutions to provide excellence in care in four convenient locations now closer to your home.

Board Certified Female Plastic Surgeon Sugene Kim, MD

Dr. Sugene Kim, MD is a board certified plastic surgeon and a diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Kim is the co-founder of the Institute of Advanced Breast Reconstruction and serves as director of The Woodlands office. She brings her training in reconstructive plastic surgery from New York City including skills she garnered from working with internationally recognized pioneer of reconstructive microsurgery, Dr. Berisch Strauch.

With a keen interest in helping women restore themselves after breast cancer, Dr. Kim completed a prestigious fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center focusing on advanced breast reconstruction techniques. She has served as a clinical specialist at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. As the only MD Anderson fellowship-trained plastic surgeon in The Woodlands and North Houston. Dr. Kim, with co-surgeon Dr. Basu, was the first to perform the DIEP flap procedure in The Woodlands and North Houston.

Sugar Land Female Plastic Surgeon Liza S. Kim, MD

The Institute of Advanced Breast Reconstruction is proud to introduce Dr. Liza S. Kim. She has been recruited to lead our Sugar Land office. Dr. Kim completed a highly coveted integrated residency training program in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery at Ohio State University. With a keen interest in breast surgery, she completed an additional fellowship in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery at Harvard Medical School / Massachusetts General Hospital.

While at Harvard, she honed her skills in advanced techniques in breast reconstruction including tissue only muscle-sparing DIEP flaps. With a strong focus in breast cancer, Dr. Kim served as a contributor in an upcoming textbook entitled “Multidisciplinary Approach to Breast Reconstruction.”
